This is a traditional, rustic cottage on the St. Lawrence River in the beautiful Thousand Islands. The cottage has been in our family for nearly 20 years. Howe Island Ferry Road (Gananoque) is a great friendly community that includes mostly American vacationers, recent retirees, and local owners. The road which was built on a man made peninsula leads to one of two ferry's that commute by tow rope to Howe Island. The cottage is 25 minutes from kingston, ON and 5 minutes from Gananoque, ON.The spaceGreat for campers, RV enthusiasts, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, hunting, and other outdoor activities. There are sometimes spiders and bugs as it is an older cottage. They are not dangerous or poisonous. THIS IS FOR PEOPLE WHO ENJOY CLASSIC COTTAGE EXPERIENCE PLEASE USE SHOWER SPARINGLY AS THERE IS A HOLDING TANK THAT HAS TO BE EMPTIED, THANK YOU NOT A HOTEL NOT A BED AND BREAKFAST EVERYTHING IS NEAT, TIDY, AND VINTAGE **There are propane tanks on site, it is GUESTS RESPONSIBILITY TO FILL, please clean up after using the BBQ.** This is a rustic cottage, there are some towels, sheets, blankets. If you have multiple guests, or are staying for multiple nights then I strongly suggest bringing your own towels, and a sleeping bag or pack as if you were going to stay at a cottage. There are two large bedrooms each with a double bed and a pull out sectional in living area. The cottage contains two large dining tables (inside and outside on deck), adequate kitchen, bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet. WATER IS NOT DRINKABLE! You must bring your own drinking/ teeth brushing water. If you have certain expectations please let me know before booking to prevent cancelations and conflict.Guest accessThere is an adjoining 1 bedroom Captain's suite that is currently unoccupied, and under renovations. It is separated by a closed wooden door similar to a hotel, with adjoining rooms that is locked. The door is located beside the TV. It is not a reflection, or in any way part of the rental and will be listed separately on Airbnb in the future once finished.Other things to noteThe cottage can sometimes have spiders, and bugs. It is a cottage. There is a canoe with paddles, fishing rods, large Gazebo with an outdoor sectional couch, 4 person table by the water, lounge chair, a large dock to dock your boat, parking for up to three vehicles, a small swimming area with some sand that kids and/or adults can enjoy free of charge. We try to keep propane filled, but ultimately it is the guests responsibility to fill. If you arrive and they are full consider it a bonus. Propane refill station 5-10 min drive from cottage. Tanks can be left under BBQ unattached once empty.
